About the Archive
Preserving Technical History
Vintage Slot Archive is an independent historical archive created to preserve technical information relating to vintage slot machines.
Many of these machines have survived for decades, while the original documentation needed to understand and restore them has become increasingly difficult to locate.
The purpose of this archive is to collect, organize, identify, and preserve that information so it remains available to collectors, historians, technicians, restorers, and future researchers.
What the Archive Preserves
The archive may contain historical technical material including:
- Schematics
- Wiring diagrams
- Parts lists
- Service manuals
- Service bulletins
- Operator manuals
- Installation instructions
- Payout diagrams
- Mechanism diagrams
- Adjustment instructions
- Troubleshooting guides
- Technical bulletins
- Supplements
- Machine photographs
Whenever possible, documents are associated with the specific machine, model, series, or mechanism to which they apply.
Historical Preservation
Vintage electromechanical slot machines represent an important period in the history of mechanical design, electrical engineering, amusement equipment, and gaming technology.
Their operation was accomplished through combinations of motors, relays, switches, solenoids, mechanical assemblies, wiring harnesses, and other components rather than the computer systems found in modern machines.
Preserving the documentation associated with these machines helps preserve the knowledge required to understand how they were originally constructed, operated, serviced, and restored.
Archive Identification
Machines entered into Vintage Slot Archive are assigned an archive identification number.
Archive numbers such as VA-000001 are internal catalog numbers used by Vintage Slot Archive. They are not manufacturer model numbers, serial numbers, or original factory document numbers.
